I · The Unfolding

Silk remembers gravity before it remembers a body.

Nine yards of hand-thrown thread, warmed by a single beam. The border catches the light the way temple gold catches morning.

The border, read like calligraphy.

III · Inspiration

It began with monsoon over Banaras.

The Ganges the colour of rusted brass.

The first light touching temple walls,

and one weaver who saw, in that light,

a colour that had no name.

An artisan's hands at the loom

IV · The Artisan

No name. No signature.
Only the loom remembers.

Needle.

Thread tightening.

The foot pedal, worn smooth by seasons.

A rhythm older than the room.

V · The Border

Every motif is a sentence.

Hover the border to hear each one whispered.

Ornate zari border with paisley and floral motifs

Kalga

The paisley — the seed of the mango, promise of abundance.

Bel

A creeping vine — the quiet continuity of generations.

Phool

The rosette — sun and offering, the first bloom after monsoon.

VI · The Pallu

The end that is worn over the heart.
